Take 78 to 285 South. Get off at exit 40 (Clarkston/E Ponce exit), take a left onto East Ponce. Go a leeetle ways, then make a right onto Northern Avenue (goin' over the traintracks.) You'll see a Uhaul lot on your left. Go on Northern Ave for just a bit, our house is on the right; a good landmark is one of those flashing yellow signals overhead, our house is literally RIGHT AFTER that. We have a steep driveway so be careful!

Hope to see you all there!!!!

Work, knitting, work, knitting, knitting, work

Well, I'm wrapping up my first week at my new job. I have to say, it is a LOT more interesting than anything I've ever done before--I'm learning all about programming, and creating some really interesting itineraries for visiting dignitaries, communicating with people who share the same ideas and commitment to internationalization that I've been looking for in an organization, but without the cutthroat business atmosphere I've wanted to avoid. The office is a lot smaller, too, which is nice--more personal and I can really get to know the people I work with. And we don't have to come in until 9 am! It's SO nice to work somewhere that doesn't bleieve that extra hour in the morning is all-important to getting work done. I don't need a goddamn hour-long lunch, I need an extra hour of sleep!

Today was also puh-puh-puh-paaay daaay! Oh yeah, baby. And yes, I did treat myself to a little yarn from handpaintedyarn.com, for the "mod cape" from Stitch n Bitch that I've been thinking of making. I ordered the superbulky wool in Alpine Pearl...looks gorgeous in the picture, here's hoping it's just as nice when it arrives! But can someone tell me why handpaintedyarn.com charges so much less than Manos del Uruguay? I mean, it's basically the exact same product, as far as I can tell.)

That brings me to my next point. Knitting, my friends, is what I live for these days. Still, I feel like I spend more time reading about knitting online than actually getting out the needles--I really only have time to knit at night, after everything's gotten done, and of course there are social and family obligations...that really cuts into my knitting time. (Damn obligations!! Let me knit!) It's such a relaxing hobby (even though I spend my fair share of time ripping out stitches when I screw up) and I love the fact that it can be picked up and put down easily, and done in the comfort of my own home...or anywhere I want, really. It's not like pottery, where I always had to make time to go to the studio, and could only get creative within the confines of that location. Knitting is literally an "anytime" craft. I even brought some knitting with me to Ben and Jerry's during a slow night--I was practicing the Magic Loop technique and just brought some scrap yarn so I wouldn't have to worry if it got sticky from ice cream. I'm still working at B&J's, even though I have a real job now...I don't know, I guess I could quit, but for some reason I'm reluctant to. It's only two days a week, and that's a little extra cash for yarn! And since I'm working in a professional environment, it's nice to have a job like B&J, where I can totally relax, get messy, eat ice cream, work stoned, and curse with my coworkers.

I'm so excited to come to Athens tonight! It's been two months since I've been back, and it's going to so nice to see everyone again. I miss having friends like that in Atlanta...I guess I need to work on getting out and meeting people. Maybe go to a knitting circle or something, haha! Then at least I can stop making my non-knitting friends and family confused and bored when I start rambling about something knitting-related.

That's enough for now, time to get back to work!

Is there anybody out there looking to make a few hundred bucks for the holidays? My company, Plexus, is hiring for a six-week project starting November 1st. You'd have to work 20 hours a week ($10 an hour) either during the day or at night; you get to make your own schedule. The projects are easy, just calling and playing on the internet the rest of the time. We need about 25 people, so I'm sure if you're even vaguely interested my supervisor would be thrilled to have you. It's a decent job, the pay is good, so if you're looking to get some extra cash for Christmas, just leave a note in my comments and I'll hook you up!

Also, I need a new roommate. My old one bailed on us and our landlords are making scary faces at us to get their money, so if you know anyone who needs a place to live...well...help a girl out?
